Dr Małgorzata Proćków works at the Museum of Natural History, University of Wrocław. The main focus of her research are the studies of micro-evolutionary processes responsible for the origin and structure of biodiversity, with a focus on land snails of the family Hygromiidae. In particularly, the research combines morphological and genetic studies with cross-breeding experiments, and an assessment of the extent of the environmental impact on species and populations. These insights can help understand the degree of reproductive isolation and the recognition of phenotypic plasticity as a key element of adaptation to environmental conditions. Life cycles, reproductive biology and population dynamics of land snails are also aims of her research. Since 2014 she is a member of editorial board of Folia Malacologica.
